Oxygen Sensing – Applications

This technology is valuable for a wide range of applications, enabling non-contact, rapid, real-time measurements of the oxygen concentration within flexible film packages, rigid containers, bottles, vials, caps, and other sealed vessels. It uniquely provides packagers the opportunity for 100% inspection, to QC every item and keep defects out of distribution. In the packaging plant, it can enable on-line product monitoring for better process-control management, as well as identification of flawed package. For package-R&D, it will improve efficiency and lower development-test costs. Of most interest to the end user/retailer, is the assurance that there has been no compromise of product quality due to breach of package. Implementation of the technology requires no major changes to either current flexible film fabrication practices to incorporate the dye, or changes in packaging processes to enable monitoring of sealed product.
